What is Advanced Typography?
The Advanced Typography is Apple Inc. computer software for advanced font rendering, supporting the internationalization and complex features for typographers, a successor to the font technologies Apple Quick Draw GX mid-1990s. It is a set of extensions to the standard True Type font outlines, with features similar to smart phones Open Type font format developed by Adobe and Microsoft, and open source Graphite. It also incorporates the concept of Adobe "multiple master" font format, allowing axial features that need to be defined and morphing of a glyph freely along each of these axes. Advanced Typography font features does not alter the basic typed text; they only affect the representation of the characters' during glyph conversion.
